Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race 2011

Well, another great Pisgah Stage Race is on the books. 5 days, 28,000 feet of climbing, and over 195 miles on some of the most technical single track in the country is no small feat! Local favorite Sam Koerber, and Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team's Adam Craig gave it all they had, but couldn't quite unseat The Lion King, Jeremiah Bishop, from a three-peat victory. Hats off to everyone who participated, awesome job!

Asheville Cyclocross had another great showing for race #3 at Blue Ridge Crossfit! A mix of asphalt and soft mud/grass with tricky barriers, 90 degree stone wall turn, and a fast downhill sweeper kept the racers on edge and the spectators entertained. AVLCX @ Bent Creek 9/10/11

Asheville Cyclocross's race #2 at Bent Creek Community Park went off without a hitch! Perfect weather, killer course, and a 3 minute scooter ride from my house - couldn't have been better. Everyone got their cross season jitters out of the way at Wednesday night's training race at Fletcher Park (namely my husband, wrecking 3 times!) and were ready to roll come Saturday morning. The morning dew hung around for warm up laps and the first race, making for some very interesting wrecks on a big downhill sweeper turn - sorry ladies, some of yours were caught on camera! It was great to see everyone out there, see you again in a couple weeks :)

1st place Women's race - Jane Burlew (Weaverville, NC)

1st place Men's A race - Will Black (Asheville, NC)

1st place Men's B race - Andrew McKinney (Black Mountain, NC)
